According to lead architect Consol Energy Center (CEC) construction is well ahead of the schedule. If all goes well the CEC should be ready before scheduled date, August 1st 2010, to open. There have been many hints during press conferences that there are plans on putting up a statute of my dad in front of the CEC. A well deserved memorial for the greatest hockey player of all time and greatest man alive. Some unconfirmed rumors have been spreading that Philadelphia is looking to remove the statue of Rocky since Pittsburgh was named the City Of Champions. In some CEC related news you probably had no clue about, as reported by the Pittsburgh Business Times: “The Rivers Casino made its first payment of $2.3 million dollars to the Pittsburgh Sports & Exhibition Authority Thursday as part of an original agreement to help finance the new Consol Energy Center, the building now under construction to become the new home of the Pittsburgh Penguins.”
Not sure what the general feel amongst the fans about Jay McKee but i am really enjoying him wearing Penguins jersey. Rumors had it he had more blocked shots than Marc-Andre Fleury had saves against the Toronto Maple Leafs, read here. Picture above is of Jay McKee, some fan, his wife Nicole (blondle on the right) who supposedly was a Buffalo Jill. He is a solid defenceman. Some of you might remember him from 2001, when he missed the Sabres’ final five games of the playoffs after a vicious collision with the Pittsburgh Penguins’s Mario Lemieux during game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Jay is enjoying playing for Penguins. However, looking at his contract he probably won’t stay with Penguins more than a year but for the time being keep up the good job and stay healthy, Jay!
