WOOOOO!
Letang finally got his first goal of the season last night against the Ducks.
This is a moment I have been waiting for since, well, opening night. Opening night, at Nassau Coliseum with 120+ Penguins fans, I would have loved Letang to get his first of the year. Last Saturday, I was in attendance at Nationwide Arena, and again would have loved to see Tanger’s first goal in person. All I got that night was to see him fall down while trying to take a shot early in the first, miss two wide open nets in the final 30 seconds of overtime, and miss in a shootut. But it’s ok, the Penguins still won, and I still knew his day would come.
So, yesterday, I just got that feeling. The feeling that you just know your man is going to get it in. (heh)
I posted that to my Twitter (minus the RT) before the drop of the puck to start the second period.
I wasn’t the only one with a feel for what he was about to do:
And, sure enough, 10:02 later:
Penguins beat the Ducks, to improve to 7-0 on the road to start the season, tying an NHL record.
Also noteworthy in this game was Sid playing goaltender. For any “fan” not familiar with every single tiny detail of Sid’s life, his father was a goalie, once drafted by the Montreal Canadiens. Also, his younger sister,Taylor, plays the position. Here is a look at Sid doing something his father never could, playing goalie in an NHL game:
Here he talks about his save:
When asked about his son’s save, Troy said, “If that was me, though, it would have gone through my pads.”
Still the best in the NHL.
