As you might know WBS Pens were eliminated from playoffs last night by Albany River Rats who completely swept the series 4-0. Ben Lovejoy and Brad Thiessen missed most of the series due to being called up to NHL. Better luck next year boys, make mama proud! Some pics here.
Speaking of playoffs and Soviet Russia … does anyone know that KHL’s Gagarin Cup finals are on? In fact you can all watch them now in North America, details here. The finals are between HC MVD and Ak Bars Kazan whose capital is no other than The Devil Killer and ex-Penguins Aleksey Morozov. He was injured in the 3rd game of the series when he took an awkward fall and hit his shoulder against the boards. He is likely to miss the rest of the series.
Updates on injuries … Leo still out with concussion and Brent Johnson is in backing up MAF. Penguins have recalled defenseman Deryk Engelland from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
