2 Winter Classic Tickets For Sale!

Friday, December 24th, 2010

Remember this pic i posted on twitter? http://twitpic.com/35p8kw

If you dont worry not i will explain. Foley’s Pub aka our Penguins bar in NYC was doing a raffle for 2 tickets to 2011 Winter Classic. Everyone who came on Wednesdays had a chance at winning them. Guess what!? I won them!!! Here is a shot of Shaun the owner of the bar presenting tickets to me last night: http://is.gd/jopdF

The sad part is that i can not go. After long and deliberate pondering of what to do with the tickets i have decided to sell them and put money to good use. I am going to sell the tickets and buy myself lots of useless junk i don’t really need! WOO HOO! Yeah right just kidding. I am not going to do that.

I am selling the tickets and putting money towards no other than our very own MouthFullOfTang‘s college bill! So that she can hopefully one day finally graduate from college and then go work for Pittsburgh Penguins organization. I don’t think i could have come up with better use for the money. Check out video she recently made about our Meetup group.

I am putting the tickets up for auction on ebay. So if you want to bid and support the cause this money will go towards go ahead and bid high! Here is the link to the ebay auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/150538774077

Please help to spread the word. Thanks!

Special thanks to Foleys Pub and the owner Shaun who made all this possible!

Matt Cooke Monster On And Off The Ice

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

One of the Habs fans told me winner of yesterday’s game will win the series. Good luck biting your nails now buddy! Huge game for Pens. My predictions for Geno stepping up came true he was running wild on ice like horny unneutered dog. Mama’s borscht does magic. Geno second star of the game with a PPG.

imma score!

Thanks Seth from EN for this …

The Penguins’ top ten career leaders in postseason game-winners:

Player Goals
Jaromir Jagr 14
Mario Lemieux 11
Kevin Stevens 9
Ron Francis 8
Evgeni Malkin 7
Sidney Crosby 5
Maxim Talbot 4
Michel Briere 3
Rob Brown 3
Tyler Kennedy 3

Puck Daddy Chatting with Evgeni Malkin: ‘There is a lot more dirty play; but that’s why the playoffs are so interesting’

First star was given to Fleury who was absolutely flawless in this game. That was Fleury’s 4th career playoff shutout. Worth mentioning that Mark Letestu had a great game in his NHL playoffs debut. He got pucks to the net, cycled the puck well and was playing well defensively. Third star should have been given to Matt Cooke but since the game was in Montreal it was given to baby-shorty Gionta. Cooke was playing hard the whole game, no scratch that, he has been playing hard the whole post season. Recording 4 goals just trailing by 1 from both Geno and Sid. He is physical and plays both ends of the ice. I want Cooke to get resigned at the end of this year as his two year contract is going to expire. I can’t imagine Penguins without Cooke and when he is getting resigned i will be sure to pick up his jersey.

Cooke is a monster on ice. However, his contributions do not stop off the ice. In fact he and his wife Michelle have created The Cooke Family Foundation Of Hope to give something back to the community. The foundation was brought to life in 2006. The couple both grew up in small towns where the values of sharing with neighbours and helping out in the community were deeply ingrained. The catalyst for creating the Foundation came from Michelle’s family. Her brother Brandon and his wife Jamie were high school sweethearts and expecting their first child, Hope. Something went wrong and Hope was born without a heartbeat. After her funeral Michelle and Matt knew they had to do something to counteract this devastating heartbreak. And so the Foundation was built, literally, on Hope.

Here are some pics i was able to pull down from The Cooke Family Foundation Website.

Check out Mario Lemieux’s new skate line … http://www.mlxskates.com/

This date in @mellonarena history…5/5/85 – The Firm (Jimmy Page, Paul Rodgers, Chris Slade & Tony Franklin) drew a crowd of over 10,000.

@pghpenguins Jordan Staal is practicing this morning in Montreal! News of the day is that forward Jordan Staal is on the ice in full equipment.

TSN reports that depending upon the healing process it is possible that Staal could join the Penguins drive by the Conference Final.

How about some skate protection?

Team Lemieux runners raised over $15K for the Mario Lemieux Foundation at the 2010 Pittsburgh Marathon. Thank you to the runners and to everyone who pledged their support!

Pens In 5 and Yinz Still Luv Da Guins

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

Here is your new desktop background. Hint: click on it to download high resolution. Thanks Seth from EN for posting it.

Yeah keep talking shit because you don’t have much of anything else to bring forward. Sens like a bunch of circus monkeys tried to put on a show for their home crowd and miserably failed. They only thing they manged to accomplish is injure Tyler Kennedy. TK suffered right leg injury after hit by Andy Sutton in the first period. Hockey wise Sens couldn’t accomplish much against the Pens irresistible force. In fact 2 of their goals was scored in 5-on-3 situation.  As promising Versus statistics suggested Sens had no chance, Pens 7-0 this season when both Crosby and Malkin score. At the end of the 3rd period Ruutu’s last resort tactic of blowing officials did not yield much result. 7-4 Pens win and are leading series 3-1.

Pens are headed home to end this freak show on home ice. Andy Sutton considering career alternatives as a golf expert. Btw, Crosby still sucks …

Foleys atmosphere was unreal last night with exception of some new kids whose hate for Devils this season have clouded their vision and their cheer for Flyers was completely uncalled for. Let me remind you hating Devils is not the same as cheering for Flyers. Know your enemy! Don’t know about ya’ll but i want to face Devils in the playoffs and stick it up to them. Sign ideas include … “You can’t beat us in the playoffs”. I am happy to report that Pens flag above Foleys was once again flying yesterday before the game. Big thanks to Shaun owner of Foley’s Pub.

Jim Shearer who caught a break from his busy working schedule was at Foley’s as well. Sure enough he came out with a new hilarious episode of Yniz Luv Da Guins. I am glad he wasn’t the only Penguin fan on the cruise.

Optional skate today at 1pm showed who wants to get some ice time … Seven Penguins participated in the optional practice at Mellon Arena. Those that laced up the skates are Matt Cooke, Ben Lovejoy, Eric Godard, Ruslan Fedotenko, Deryk Engelland, Brent Johnson and Brad Thiessen. The rest of the Penguins took a well deserved break.

Jordan Staal nominated for Selke Trophy but as Seth from EmptyNetters puts it Staal has no chance of winning it since its “… almost seems like a Gold Glove in baseball. You can seemingly only win it if you’ve won it before. If that makes sense.”

$35,000 and still growing beard-a-thon donations to Mario Lemieux Foundation. New faces include Max Talbot and Pascal Dupuis. Donate today!

Lots of talk about new 3rd alternative jerseys for Penguins that will be coming out later this year. Quote taken from here.

New alternate jersey It’s been widely rumored and now Reebok is confirming that the Penguins will ditch their powder blue thirds in favor of a new alternate uniform for 2010-11. Once again, the manufacturer hasn’t released any details of the design.

However, Tribune-Review beat writer Rob Rossi said in December that blue would be returning in some fashion to the new third jersey. It’s probably a safe bet that the Pens will dig into their past once again for this sweater — likely going with one of the darker blue options.

The home and road jerseys will stay the same.

Another High School Pens Video … don’t these kids have like classes and homework to do or something?

Pens Take Series Lead and Kris Letang’s Tattoo

Monday, April 19th, 2010

You better believe it … Pens game 5 playoff tickets went on sale TODAY! If you can’t afford tickets be sure to stop by Dick’s and grab a free playoff yard sign.

I am desperately trying to get one for Foley’s (Thanks to Lisa R who volunteered to send me one! What a lady!) especially since Pens flag that usually flies above the entrance fell off. Not being superstitious about it or anything but that kind of crap is simply unacceptable especially during playoffs. Tuesday i am bringing my own Pens flag and putting it up above Foley’s if all else fails.

Foley’s was rocking last night. There were about 30 people. Right before the game i got a twit from @ZPAwoman who told me her friend Steve is in town from Pittsburgh and was planning on visiting Foleys. After extensive search for Steve at Foleys which basically consisted of 3 guys yelling out Steve to every male that walked into the bar. Mission was finally accomplished and Steve was found! He had a great time and recommended that his friend Enzo comes to visit on Tuesday night. We will be sure to keep our eyes open for Enzo as well!

Another amazing performance by Pens last night. My beard was itchy as hell which is a great indication that Pens were going to do some magic on ice. Game definitely had that Out For Justice feel. Crosby sucks …

Poni open with a huge goal which took him back all they way to 2004 when he scored his first career NHL playoff goal. He was so stocked to score he couldn’t believe it and it got him going for the rest of the game. He was pretty much everywhere going nuts and believing.

Soon after i saw red fill up Evgeni Malkin’s eyes and my itchy beard was going nuts. I knew he was going to come out swinging hard. With Maxy Talby back on his line they put Sens name to the test and Sens failed. Geno 3rd goal of the playoff of Max with a huge assist to put the puck on Geno’s stick with wide open net.

Favorite part of the game was Billy G on the breakaway. Dad scores! Minutes later … Brooks Orpik was like … hey i want to do that too! Would have been huge but 4-2 is good enough to make Sens get their golf clubs polished.

Anyone else saw two hits on Letang’s unprotected sex hair. Somehow i got the feeling that there were plenty of Pens fans that enjoyed those hits more than Sens fans. Go figure. Anyway about Kris Letang. I know i know just keep breathing.

Recently there surfaced a video of Kris Letang giving interview in French and showing off his new tattoo that he got over the Olympic break. Here it is:

I am no French expert so i asked my friend Vanessa V an awesome French Canadian girl who plays better hockey than you to translate it for me. In the beginning of the interview Kris talks about going back to Montreal to see his family. He also says the team (Penguins) is doing well, that the boys are working hard and that there’s no feel of a Stanley Cup hangover.

Then he goes on to talk and show his tattoo. Check out his new ink pics.

Top portion of the tattoo is dedicated to his grandmother. Kris says that she always has been there for him.

Bottom portion of the tattoo and the guitar part is obviously dedicated to Letang’s best friend and former roommate Luc Bourdon who used to play for Vancouver Canucks and tragically died in a motorcycle accident on May 29, 2008. During the 2008 NHL Draft, the Canucks’ management wore guitar pins to remember Bourdon, because he was an avid guitarist.

Vanessa also adds that Kris has definitely not forgotten where he was from – makes her very proud.

At Unreal.

Almost $28,000 raised in beard-a-thon. Amazing! Donate and sponsor my beard here.

Malkin’s Militia Hardcore New York Style!

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

If you haven’t heard of Malkin’s Militia … well then you are probably not a true penshead. We are real, we are alive, we are hardcore, we are here to represent Pittsburgh Penguins, we are here to make a statement in the world of NHL fanhood.  If you think that having season tickets to any NHL team is as hardcore as it gets then think again. There is nothing more hardcore than always cheering for your favorite NHL team on a road. Especially if you are cheering for Pittsburgh Penguins in New York. Not just cheering but starting trends, bending and breaking rules, expanding on the definition of being a Penguins fan, pushing ones luck and not giving a fuck about consequences or repercussions. I try not to curse in my posts but tonight’s post calls for special occasion when a statement needs to be made. In other words i don’t give a fuck what you think of me or my blog because people need to know how epic New York Penguins fans are. If it wasn’t so i wouldn’t be here typing this shit out at 5am in the morning after i came back from the Penguins vs Rangers game that took place in NY at Madison Square Garden. This is by far the most epic and more hardcore post on this blog yet. We have tried to push our luck tonight and we have outdone ourselves. Without wasting more of your precious time let me get to the details. MALKIN’S MILITIA! Like i said if you haven’t heard of us its time you need to wake up and smell the salt. We are here, we are hardcore, and we mean business. Ain’t no one can match true fanhood unless you are part of the Penguins Malkin’s Militia. Being Russian i have the authority to make this bold statement and i have way more hardcore actions to prove it. Shutting down the Madison Square Garden’s fans in 3 different sections with my Penguins chants during tonight’s game is how Malkin’s Militia was born. It all started before the game at all the familiar and famous New York bar, Foleys! If you haven’t heard of Foleys you might as well stop reading right now and start cheering for Flyers. Foleys … few hours before the game … a legend was born! Malkin’s Militia! (more…)

NYC Pittsburgh Penguins Meetup Group … a legend is born!

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

Written by Kristin Valentine

In April 2007, Long Island native and lifelong Penguins fan Mark Hanna – thanks to his father, a Pittsburgher – decided to start a group to connect with other Penguins fans in New York City.  Thus, the NYC Pittsburgh Penguins Meetup Group was born! http://www.meetup.com/penguins/ on www.meetup.com.  Mark held his first meetup during Game 5 of the Ottawa playoff series.  Unfortunately, the Pens lost that game and ended their playoff run but the meetup had managed to bring two lone Penguins fans, in a city full of Rangers fans, together.

That fall Mark scheduled a meetup for the season opener and instead of two there were six fans. Over the next several months the crowd of regulars grew to about twelve. Two or three times a month Pittsburgh Penguins Meetup Group members would gather in a bar near NYU in the Village to watch our beloved Penguins.

Sex, Peter, Pittsburgh Penguins, DEVIL, exorcism.

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

First of all, let me call you a pervert and say that you clicked the link only because you read “Sex” first. Whatever, i don’t blame you.

Getting to more serious issues … Peter! Who is that guy? WHOOOO CARES?! RIGHT?! Ummmm, please, not so fast. Why is he so important to the health and goodness of our Pittsburgh Penguins to deserve his own post? Well to some it might seem like a completely random and chaotic coincidence. To others who dare to call themselves true Pensheads this is all about the Pens, right?! YOU DAMN RIGHT I AM RIGHT! Why else would you be reading this one-of-the-best-self-proclaimed-Pittsburgh-Penguins-blogs-on-the-web?! You are a true Penshead, much like Peter. So, i know you DO CARE! Since you care its my responsibility to make sure you find out the truth about THE DEVIL!
