Penguins earn their first shutout of the season with MAF between the pipes against Bruins. Boston Bruins were so hyped up and focused on getting revenge on Matt Cooke their forgot the most important thing … HOW TO PLAY HOCKEY! Only thing that could have gone better is if Geno was playing and Cookie scored a goal. Not complaining really. Not even going to post the fight between Cooke and Thornton … just want to get this all over with. Not sure what Mike Rupp was thinking fighting Chara but i don’t think he landed a single punch on Chara’s face … it was just too far away.

Good News All Around & Bappy Hirthday Max Talbot!

Yes good news all around indeed. Pens top Isles at home 3-1. Habs top Caps at home 6-5 with ~8 seconds left in OT goal by Tomas Plekanec assisted by Sergei Kostitsyn. This puts an end to Caps 14 game winning streak which was coming too close to current record of 17 games set by Penguins in ’92-93 season.

Evgeni Malkin with some awesome puck handing display last night picked up his 21st goal and 42nd assist. He is on 11 game point streak which is the longest active streak in the league.

Kris Kunitz marked his official come back after being out with abdominal surgery picked up first star of the game. He had 2 goals, 4 shots and 3 hits.

While Fleury was excellent in the net with 37 saves … he had much needed support from our defensemen as well. Kris Letang with a huge stick save of the night with a wide open net.  After that Tanger scooped the puck under himself ” … rookie John Tavares basically two-handed him. Letang got a penalty for delay of game, and Tavares got a penalty for being an idiot.” (best described by TPB)

Pens are now only a point away behind the Devils in the Atlantic Divison.

Another highlight of the game was the Potash’s video of snowy road trip which was aired on FSN Pittsburgh during 1st intermission. If you missed it … worry not my brother or sister … GhostWalker40 has your back.

Happy 26th Birthday to Max Talbot!

Talbot probably won’t be back till after Olympic break.
