Pittsburgh Penguins: Will a Return to Pittsburgh Reignite Winger Alexei Kovalev? Source: Bleacher Report
Ray Shero must not have been satisfied with just getting James Neal and Matt Niskanen, as he traded a seventh-round pick to the Ottawa Senators for former Pens winger Alexei Kovalev. Kovalev, now 38 years old, is returning to the Penguins after having some successful and unsuccessful stints in New York (Rangers), Montreal and most recently, Ottawa. With all of the injuries that the Penguins have experienced this year to Sidney Crosby , Evgeni Malkin, Chris Kunitz, Mark Letestu and Aaron Asham, GM Ray Shero and the Pens were almost forced to trade for some more help offensively . The Pens scored big with power forward James Neal and have now added Kovalev to give them a lift offensively . Kovalev—who waived a no-trade clause to make the deal happen— was had for a conditional sixth or seventh-round draft pick, according to TSN’s Bob McKenzie … Read the rest here

Penguins Bipolar Disorder

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

Games like tonight cause psychological disorders. After a bipolar game of hits and misses, from trailing by 2, to leading by 2, to finding ourselves clinging to a 1 goal lead on the PK with 2 minutes left of the game, the Pens came out on top with a final score of 5-4.

Letestu scored his first NHL goal early in the 1st to give the Pens the 1-0 lead. Buffalo answered back with 2 quick goals and returned in the 2nd to score yet again and take the 3-1 lead.

Pittsburgh wasn’t ready to throw in the towel. Crosby responded minutes later on the PP, followed by a long anticipated goal by Jordan Staal which tied the score at 3. After an extended period of 4 on 4 hockey Bing decided to show off by racking up two more goals within the period for his 5th career hatty. Crosby is now tied with Marleau for the NHL lead in goals.

God that guy sucks.
