RECAP: Living Young, Wild, and Malkin. PENS WIN. Source: The Pensblog
With all the Crosby shit over All Star Weekend and then a semi-impromptu Crosby press conference with the Canadian media in town, the Pens fan base wanted nothing more than for the team to get back to playing some hockey. And so they did. And it didn't look good at all. The game didn't even feel close, and the Pens (and especially Fleury ) were doing just enough to keep Toronto in their sights. Then 6 minutes into the third, the Leafs scored 2 goals in 19 seconds to make it 4-1. Things were bad. Steigerwald and Errey were already talking about how Kessel “had to pay” for something. Then 2 minutes after the Leafs went up 4-1, some Leaf made a bizarre mistake and Sullivan had a highway down the right wing. He decided to blast one past the Monster to make it 4-2. The crowd was back into it. There was still unlimited time left. @DerickWoodard21 The refs forgot they weren't allowed to call penalties on the Leafs, and the Pens got a huge PP. They didn't score on it but gained momentum. Fifth Avenue Joe was determined to bring the Pens even closer and made it 4-3 with 5 minutes left. Then Malkin tied it with 6.6 seconds left with a deflection off the “A” on his chest. After an insane overtime, Malkin scored in the shootout and no clue what Phil Kessel was doing. The shootout win capped off one of the best Pens comebacks in recent memory … Follow this link

RECAP: Yeah. We Got That. PENS WIN. Source: The Pensblog
The Pens are skating wounded. They have been since February 2011, but now it's getting ridiculous. Ben Lovejoy's out. Michalek's out. Niskanen was out for this one. The Pens' blue line this game included two guys who haven't suited up for the Penguins all season. It's pretty impressive that there weren't any defensive breakdowns; it was actually a couple of bizarre turnovers that almost did the Penguins in. That and the relentless slashing and stickwork from the Kings. It was getting ridiculous. But the Pens persevered. Kunitz tied it in the shadow of the final buzzer and then he won it in the shootout. Chris Kunitz nowhere to be found in the 3 Stars of the game. Should be an interesting week coming up. Crosby rumors should be coming to a boiling point. Don’t know much about geography Source: The Pensblog
Over the weekend, the Internet exploded as word started to spread about an NHL realignment plan that is “gaining steam.” Here's what the divisions would look like: Some tidbits about the schedule: -Teams would play home-and-homes with teams outside their division, with the remaining being played within the division. No clue how the numbers break down on this, but it seems like 5 games a year against divisional opponents sounds about right. With those home-and-homes, teams would play either 44 or 46 games against non-divisional teams. That leaves basically half the schedule open to divisional games. Compare that to the 24 divisional games the Pens see every year in the current alignment. -The playoff seeding will return to how it was in the old days (before 1993-94), with the top 4 teams in each division seeded 1 to 4 and pairing down on a collision course with the other division in the Conference Finals. There is some dust being kicked up about this new playoff format, as teams in 8-team divisions feel like it's unfair. It'll be unfair in years that everyone is good. It'll be fair in the years when you get to pound on one extra team every year. Moot point … Go here to read the rest
